graphite and highnodularization efficency when treted.

Nodularization temperature is recommended at 1400~1450when melted from a cupola, or at

1450~1500 when from anelectric furnace. Added at 1.5~1.8% when sulphur in the liquidcast

iron is as high as 0.065~0.09%, or 1.4%~1.5% when sulphur is as high asa 0.05~0.065%.

Ferro Silicon is a kind of ferroalloy which is composed of ferrum and silicon. Ferro Silicon used coke, 

quartz (or silica) as raw material and using electric furnace to made by. Because of silicon and oxygen 

are easily compound into SiO2, so the ferrosilicon often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking.Properties:1. 

Supply Ferro Silicon alloy is used to precipitate and diffuse deoxidation in steel making. We add a 

certain volume of silicon to steel to improve the strength, hardness and flexibility of steel.2. Ferro Silicon 

alloy also improves permeability of steel and lowers hysteresis loss of transformer steel 

obviously. It is an important type of inoculation and nodulizer in the process of spheroidal graphite cast 

iron making.

Description:

Ferrosilicon is used as a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and 

other ferro alloys. Ferrosilicon is also used for manufacture of silicon, corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant ferrous silicon alloys, and silicon steel for electromotors and 

transformer cores. There are many practical applications of Ferro Silicon to include carbon steel and 

stainless steel production, and when using the Pidgeon process to produce magnesium from dolomite.

Properties and characteristics

 Casting  

 (1) Inoculants apply to grey cast iron and nodular cast iron and can promote “A” type of graphite formed 

and graphite balls complete. 

 (2) It can be into nuclear in relatively wide temperature range, has strong ability of spheroidizing and 

anti-recession and can effectively prevent castings from chilling tendency. 

  (3) It has complete deoxidizing effect and better than the other deoxidizing alloy agents. Its addition 

amount is 35-50% of FeSi75’s.

 Steelmaking  

 (1) Si-Ba alloy containing 10%-35% of Ba has high efficiency, strong ability of dephosphorization and better 

than CaSi alloy. 

  (2) After adding Si-Ba alloy, the essence and distribution characteristics of non-metallic inclusions will have 

important change. 

 (3) Adding right amount of Si-Ba alloy into the steel can improve plasticity and toughness in the high and low 

temperature. FeSiBa can most effectively improve winterhardiness of the steel.
